Airborne Survey Unlocks Structural and Mineralisation Insights

Sunshine Metals (ASX:SHN) has completed its first detailed airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over the Sybil low-sulphidation epithermal gold project in northeast Queensland, covering 2,079 line-kilometres. The helicopter-borne survey, flown at a low 35m terrain clearance, has delineated large-scale fault architectures and several buried intrusions interpreted to be contemporaneous with gold mineralisation. These geological features are critical as they control the thickness and distribution of the prospective Hells Gate Rhyolite host rock and potentially the location of mineralised veins.

The survey also mapped magnetic lows associated with fault zones and identified six reverse polarity intrusive bodies, with the largest at Solitary Hill. These intrusions could be significant drivers of epithermal mineralisation and warrant further investigation to understand their relationship with gold deposits.

Radiometric Data Highlights New Vein Targets with High-Grade Surface Gold

The radiometric component of the survey, which measures potassium, thorium, and uranium abundance, revealed zones of potassium depletion south of the Francis Creek East prospect. These depletion zones correspond with epithermal quartz veining, a hallmark of gold mineralisation. Ground truthing and rock chip sampling at the newly defined Cisco and Pancho veins returned encouraging gold grades, including 21.6g/t Au at Pancho and up to 6.04g/t Au at Cisco, confirming the survey’s effectiveness in vectoring towards high-grade targets.

These results expand the known mineralised footprint beyond the previously drilled Francis Creek area and provide fresh targets for Sunshine’s upcoming drilling campaign.

Drilling to Test Extensions and New Targets at Sybil

Building on a strong foundation of historic and recent drilling, Sunshine is poised to commence a 44-hole reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at Francis Creek from 24 July 2026. This program aims to test strike extensions of high-grade mineralisation, which previously included standout intercepts such as 4.4m at 57.51g/t Au and 4.5m at 17.23g/t Au.

Crucially, the campaign will also include the first-ever drilling at the Francis Creek East prospect, where surface rock chips have yielded up to 23.4g/t Au. Additional drilling at Blue Range, located 6km north of Francis Creek and known for surface gold grades up to 20.4g/t, is planned with eight holes.

The drilling program is expected to provide critical data to refine the geological model and assess the economic potential of these newly identified veins and extensions.

Sybil Project Positioned Within a Larger Strategic Framework

Sybil is one component of Sunshine’s broader Ravenswood Consolidated Project, which hosts a significant polymetallic resource including gold, zinc, copper, lead, silver, and molybdenum. The company’s recent acquisition of the Mt Moss processing facility and ongoing resource upgrades at Liontown underpin a strategic push towards production by mid-2027.

The detailed geophysical data from Sybil complements Sunshine’s multi-commodity portfolio and supports its exploration-led growth strategy. The survey’s revelations about fault controls and buried intrusions add a new dimension to the company’s understanding of the epithermal system, potentially unlocking higher-grade zones and broader mineralised corridors.
