Infinity Mining (ASX:IMI) has reported compelling early-stage exploration results from its Tanjil Dome Prospect in Victoria, revealing high-grade antimony mineralisation reaching 48.7% Sb alongside anomalous gold up to 1.35 g/t in surface rock samples. These assays come from quartz-stibnite veins, breccias, and altered dyke material, painting a picture of a complex hydrothermal system with multiple mineralisation styles.
The standout sample, a laminated quartz vein, returned 5.32% antimony with 1.35 g/t gold, confirming that gold is not an incidental occurrence but part of the mineralising system. Massive stibnite veins yielded grades as high as 48.3% Sb, while brecciated altered dykes also showed significant antimony values, indicating mineralisation is not confined to discrete veins but is structurally controlled across different host rocks.
Extensive Soil Anomaly Supports Structural Hydrothermal Model
Complementing the rock chip results, a 50 m by 50 m soil sampling grid defined a coherent antimony-arsenic anomaly extending over at least 500 metres, with peak portable XRF values of 751 ppm antimony and 791 ppm arsenic. Gold assays from laboratory analysis confirmed anomalous values up to 177 ppb Au within this geochemical halo, spatially associated with the antimony and arsenic anomalies.
The arsenic footprint is broader and more intense than antimony, suggesting a large alteration halo typical of epizonal gold-antimony systems. The close spatial association of gold, antimony, and arsenic anomalies supports the interpretation of a structurally controlled hydrothermal system, potentially analogous to other Victorian gold-antimony deposits.
Project Setting and Joint Venture Progress
The Tanjil Dome lies within the Eastern Victorian goldfields, approximately 100 km from Infinity’s Sunday Creek gold-antimony project. The prospect is hosted within Silurian to Devonian marine sedimentary units intruded by Devonian granitoids, including the Mount Baw Baw Granodiorite. This geological setting is prospective for intrusion-related and structurally controlled gold-antimony mineralisation.
Exploration is being conducted under a joint venture with Mining One Consultants, who can earn up to 51% by spending $200,000 and completing 1,500 metres of drilling. The current results represent a significant advance in understanding the prospect, with Mining One’s geologists highlighting the association of high-grade stibnite with a multi-element soil anomaly and gold-bearing quartz veins as key evidence of a mineralised hydrothermal system.
Planned Follow-Up Work and Exploration Targets
Infinity Mining plans to expand soil sampling grids to test the lateral extent of the anomaly and a second magnetic target located 400–500 metres north of the main prospect. Structural mapping, trenching, and drill program planning are underway, with work plans to be submitted shortly.
The system remains open in multiple directions, and laboratory assays for many soil samples are still pending, leaving room for the gold and antimony anomalies to grow. The company’s Executive Chairman Cameron Petricevic emphasised the clear pathway for systematic follow-up work and drill targeting based on the strong geochemical and geological framework.
