High-Grade Gold Intersections Highlight Leinster South Potential
Metal Hawk Limited (ASX:MHK) has reported encouraging results from its recent reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Leinster South Project in Western Australia. The 18-hole campaign, totalling 2,734 metres, delivered standout gold intersections including 3 metres at 9.8 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 32 metres at the Thylacine south zone, with a 2-metre interval grading 14.1 g/t Au. Other notable hits include 8 metres at 3.2 g/t Au and 7 metres at 3.3 g/t Au at Thylacine east, as well as multiple intervals at the Tysons prospect.
The results reinforce the Thylacine south zone as Metal Hawk’s highest priority target, building on a late-2025 diamond drill hole that intersected 2.3 metres at 15.3 g/t Au. The recent RC drilling confirmed significant quartz-vein hosted gold mineralisation along a prospective corridor extending more than 1 kilometre north from Tysons, with additional follow-up holes at Thylacine returning promising grades from previously untested veins.
Regional Exploration Advances with Gravity and Soil Sampling
Beyond drilling, Metal Hawk completed a regional ground gravity survey covering 14 square kilometres east of Tysons, collecting 1,147 stations to delineate structural features beneath largely covered granitic terrain. The survey has defined key east-west trending structures, including an extension of the Wonder Shear, which is known to host significant gold deposits. This geophysical work, integrated with aeromagnetic data, supports the identification of new gold targets that are being followed up with soil geochemical sampling.
While gold-in-soil responses over the granitic areas remain generally subdued, anomalous samples have prompted closer-spaced soil sampling to refine target zones. These regional efforts complement the ongoing drilling and are part of Metal Hawk’s strategy to expand its footprint in the northeast Goldfields region.
Financial Position and Upcoming Work Program
As at 30 June 2026, Metal Hawk held $1.31 million in cash and approximately $1.0 million in listed investments. The company spent around $619,000 on exploration activities during the quarter, primarily on drilling, geochemistry, and geophysics at Leinster South. Payments to related parties, including directors’ fees and salaries, amounted to $151,000.
Looking ahead, Metal Hawk has already recommenced RC drilling at Leinster South, with assay results expected in September 2026. The company is preparing for additional follow-up drilling, potentially involving both RC and diamond rigs. Concurrently, regional exploration planning and soil surveys will continue at Leinster South and the nearby Pepperill Hill project. Metal Hawk is also advancing tenement applications for its Mt Percy project and reviewing other regional opportunities within Western Australia’s goldfields.
The company’s exploration approach is methodical, combining targeted drilling with geophysical and geochemical techniques to build a comprehensive understanding of the gold mineralisation controls. The ongoing work aims to delineate extensions of high-grade zones and unlock new prospects along structurally significant corridors.
Bottom Line?
Metal Hawk’s latest drilling confirms robust gold mineralisation at Leinster South, setting the stage for an active follow-up campaign and broader regional exploration.
Questions in the middle?
- Will upcoming assay results confirm extensions of high-grade gold zones at Leinster South?
- How might the newly identified structural targets east of Tysons influence Metal Hawk’s exploration strategy?
- What funding measures will Metal Hawk pursue to sustain its exploration momentum beyond the next two quarters?
