Yandal Resources Confirms Depth Extensions at Arrakis and Fresh Rock Gold at Flushing Meadows

Mining By Maxwell Dee 5 min read

Yandal Resources has expanded the Arrakis gold discovery with high-grade mineralisation at depth and confirmed fresh rock gold at Flushing Meadows, underpinning a busy September quarter exploration schedule.

  • Arrakis drilling reveals high-grade zones open at depth
  • Flushing Meadows diamond drilling confirms fresh rock mineralisation
  • New shallow gold zone identified at Siona prospect
  • Air-core drilling underway over Flushing Meadows and Giedi Prime
  • Strong cash position supports $4.2 million quarterly exploration spend

Arrakis Discovery Extends with High-Grade Mineralisation

Yandal Resources (ASX:YRL) has reported significant progress at its flagship Arrakis gold discovery within the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee (IWB) Gold Project in Western Australia. Reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling during the June quarter extended mineralisation by 150 metres to the southeast and confirmed continuity at depth. Notable intercepts include 27 metres at 1.2 g/t Au from 87 metres, featuring higher-grade intervals such as 2 metres at 5.1 g/t Au, and diamond core intercepts like 18 metres at 1.8 g/t Au from 290 metres, including 4.1 metres at 5.7 g/t Au. Geological interpretation highlights a steep plunging high-grade domain adjacent to the Scytale Shear Zone, which bounds the mineralisation to the southeast and remains open at depth and along strike.

The eastern hanging-wall contact continues to provide clear vectors for targeting potential high-grade zones, with follow-up drilling planned once the bulk of assay results are received during the September quarter. This ongoing work aims to define a formal exploration target for Arrakis in August, setting the stage for resource growth in this emerging gold system.

Fresh Rock Gold Confirmed Below Flushing Meadows Resource

Diamond drilling beneath the existing 268,000-ounce Flushing Meadows deposit has delivered its first fresh rock results, confirming primary gold mineralisation beyond the current Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE). Eight diamond holes spaced approximately 200 metres apart tested 1.6 kilometres of strike, with early results including 20 metres at 1.7 g/t Au from 55 metres and 11.3 metres at 1.1 g/t Au from 214 metres. These intercepts reveal iron-rich sediments as the main host rock, with narrow, higher-grade veins linked to strong silica alteration.

Importantly, the mineralised zones lie predominantly in the hanging wall and outside the current resource boundary, indicating multiple parallel mineralised structures that remain open at depth and to the southeast. Follow-up RC drilling has commenced to test the continuity of these new zones, with further assay results from the remaining diamond holes expected during the current quarter. This fresh rock mineralisation opens new pathways for resource expansion at Flushing Meadows and enhances the project's upside potential.

Siona Prospect Uncovers New Shallow Mineralisation

At the Siona prospect within the New England Granite target area, shallow RC drilling has identified a new gold mineralisation trend that remains open along strike. Highlights include 17 metres at 1.3 g/t Au from 37 metres and 13 metres at 1.5 g/t Au from 45 metres, with higher-grade intervals such as 3 metres at 5.0 g/t Au and 2 metres at 8.1 g/t Au. The mineralisation appears to be flat-lying and gently dipping, but its primary or supergene nature remains uncertain due to weathering. Further drilling is planned in the second half of 2026 to clarify the mineralisation's continuity and character.

Expanded Air-Core Program and Ground Gravity Surveys

Yandal has expanded its regional ground gravity dataset across the IWB project to refine structural and stratigraphic interpretations around key targets including Arrakis, Flushing Meadows, and the Giedi Prime area. Complementing this, a large-scale air-core drilling program commenced late in the quarter, targeting the broader Flushing Meadows and Giedi Prime zones with approximately 10,000 metres planned. This program aims to map mineralised system boundaries and test the untested Giedi Prime gravity target, with initial results expected in September.

Additional air-core drilling is set to begin across the western margin of the New England Granite area, targeting granite-margin settings analogous to the Siona discovery. These early-stage exploration efforts are integral to Yandal’s strategy to unlock new targets within its extensive tenure in the northern Yandal Greenstone Belt.

Mt McClure Project Prepares for Targeted Drilling

The Mt McClure Gold Project, acquired in 2022 and located near the historic Bronzewing Mine, holds JORC Resources totaling 182,200 ounces. Preparations are underway for targeted diamond drilling at the Success and Parmelia deposits to assess higher-grade mineralisation at depth and support metallurgical studies. RC drilling may also extend mineralisation at the HMS Sulphur prospect. These activities complement Yandal’s broader exploration push across its portfolio.

Financial Position and Outlook

Yandal ended the quarter with approximately A$9.7 million in cash, underpinning a robust funding position to execute its aggressive 2026 exploration program. Exploration expenditure for the quarter was approximately A$4.2 million, reflecting the scale of drilling and survey activities underway. The company issued 1.13 million shares to settle drilling services under a drill-for-equity agreement, maintaining a stable capital structure with 382.6 million shares on issue.

Looking ahead, the September quarter will focus on receiving final assay results from Arrakis and Flushing Meadows drilling, completing the air-core program, and scheduling follow-up drilling based on these outcomes. A strategic review of exploration priorities across the IWB portfolio will also guide the development of formal exploration targets for Arrakis, Siona, and Flushing Meadows, aiming to convert recent discoveries into resource growth.

Bottom Line?

Yandal Resources is advancing multiple gold targets with encouraging drilling results and fresh rock discoveries, setting the stage for resource upgrades and further exploration in the coming quarter.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the pending assay results confirm significant resource expansions at Arrakis and Flushing Meadows?
  • Can the new shallow mineralisation at Siona be linked to primary gold systems suitable for resource definition?
  • How will Yandal prioritise follow-up drilling across multiple promising targets given its current cash position?
