Geological Model Unveils New Drill Targets

Arcadia Minerals (ASX:AM7) has completed a comprehensive exploration analysis at its Tantalite Valley Complex (TVC) Polymetallic Project in southern Namibia, defining a series of high-quality drill targets hosted within ultramafic rocks. The geological model, supported by extensive historical and recent datasets, reveals multiple ultramafic bodies exhibiting macro-rhythmic layering akin to the Merensky-type mineralisation of South Africa’s Bushveld Igneous Complex, one of the world’s richest PGE provinces.

These ultramafic units, some up to 80 metres thick, form saucer-shaped troughs and are capped by anorthosite layers, underscoring the layered intrusion’s complexity and mineral potential. The model consolidates four independent data sources, including hyperspectral imaging, detailed geological mapping, LAG geochemical sampling, and stream sediment analysis, all pointing to coherent mineralised domains.

Historical Data and New Discoveries Expand Opportunity

While historical drilling by Rio Tinto and Southern Sphere in the 1970s focused on the southern part of the complex (ML77), returning nickel-copper intercepts such as 16 metres at 0.65% Ni and 0.16% Cu, the majority of the TVC remains underexplored. Arcadia’s re-sampling of historical core uncovered previously unreported platinum group elements (PGE) and gold mineralisation, with assays up to 0.84 g/t Pd and 0.4 g/t Pt, confirming the polymetallic nature of the system.

Crucially, recent geological mapping by Arcadia and Stellenbosch University identified eight ultramafic bodies, six of which are new discoveries beyond the historical drilling footprint. These newly mapped bodies, particularly Sites 2 and 7, are now priority drill targets, representing fresh ground with significant exploration upside.

Validated Geochemical Techniques Guide Drilling Plans

Arcadia’s 2025 LAG (lag) geochemical orientation programme, involving 60 samples over four lines, successfully reproduced the historical Rio Tinto nickel soil anomaly. This validation positions LAG sampling as the preferred geochemical method for the TVC’s arid terrain, enabling efficient narrowing of drill targets.

Complementing this, stream sediment sampling returned anomalous lithium, gold, cobalt, chromium, copper, nickel, palladium, and platinum from drainages outside known mineralised zones, hinting at additional undiscovered source rocks within the complex.

Scout Diamond Drilling and Next Steps

Arcadia plans an initial scout diamond drilling campaign comprising four HQ holes, two each at Sites 2 and 7, subject to funding and fine-tuning of detailed mapping. The holes aim to test the ultramafic stratigraphy and mineralisation continuity, with proposed orientations designed to intersect the full lithological sequence.

Drilling near ML77 (Site 1) is also planned to replicate and confirm historical intercepts, with approximately 400 metres of drilling envisaged. In parallel, the LAG geochemical programme will be extended over other mapped ultramafic bodies (Sites 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8) to rank additional targets for future drilling.

This methodical approach, combining modern geochemical techniques with refined geological models, positions Arcadia to systematically unlock the polymetallic potential of the TVC, which hosts nickel, copper, PGE, lithium, and tantalum.
