Flynn Gold has inked a non-binding Ore Purchase Agreement with Kaiser Reef's Henty Gold Mine, opening a potential low-capital route to production for its Golden Ridge project in Tasmania.

  • Potential low-capex production pathway via existing processing plant
  • Golden Ridge Mining Lease application lodged
  • Resource drilling and metallurgical testing underway
  • Agreement covers all Tasmanian projects

Ore Purchase Agreement Offers Low-Cost Production Option

Flynn Gold Limited (ASX:FG1) has taken a significant step towards becoming a gold producer in Tasmania by executing a non-binding Ore Purchase Agreement (OPA) with Henty Gold Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Kaiser Reef Limited (ASX:KAU) and operator of the Henty Gold Mine. This deal allows Flynn Gold to potentially supply ore or concentrates from its Tasmanian projects for processing at Henty's existing gold plant in western Tasmania.

The arrangement provides Flynn Gold with a potentially attractive, low-capital pathway to production by leveraging an operational processing facility rather than building its own from scratch. While the commercial terms remain confidential, the company describes them as mutually beneficial and sees this as a way to accelerate development timelines, particularly for its flagship Golden Ridge Project.

Golden Ridge Poised for Accelerated Development

Flynn Gold recently lodged a Mining Lease Application for Golden Ridge, marking a critical regulatory milestone in its development strategy. The lease application includes a proposed processing hub site featuring grid power and sealed roads, setting the stage for both near-term mining and longer-term processing ambitions.

Resource drilling is planned at the Brilliant and Trafalgar prospects to expand the Exploration Target and convert portions into a Mineral Resource. Concurrently, metallurgical testwork tailored to Henty Gold Mine’s feed specifications has already delivered promising results, with initial samples from Golden Ridge achieving over 94% gold recovery using a similar leaching process to that employed at Henty.

Flynn Gold plans to supply Kaiser Reef with quartz vein material collected in 2025 for on-site testing, further underpinning the potential for feed compatibility and operational synergy.

Non-Binding Nature and Next Steps

It’s important to note that the Ore Purchase Agreement is non-binding and does not obligate either party to proceed with ore delivery or processing. However, a Confidentiality Agreement is in place, allowing both companies to share information and explore collaboration possibilities.

Flynn Gold is accelerating environmental surveys and stakeholder engagement alongside its drilling and metallurgical programs. These activities aim to support the Mining Lease approval process and refine the project’s development pathway.

By potentially supplying ore to an established processing facility, Flynn Gold could sidestep the upfront capital intensity typically associated with new processing infrastructure. This approach aligns with the company’s vision of fast-tracking gold production in Tasmania with a leaner capital footprint.

Bottom Line?

Flynn Gold’s agreement with Henty Gold Mine could materially shorten its path to production, but the non-binding nature and need for resource and lease milestones mean investors should watch for concrete progress on binding contracts and drilling results.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will Flynn Gold convert the Ore Purchase Agreement into a binding contract and when?
  • How will ongoing resource drilling at Golden Ridge impact the project’s viability and scale?
  • What is the timeline for Mining Lease approval and commencement of potential mining activities?
