Forrestania Extends High-Grade Gold Mineralisation at British Hill

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Forrestania Resources has reported strong assay results from its recent British Hill drilling, confirming significant high-grade gold mineralisation at depth and along strike, underpinning plans for resource growth and project development.

  • Six-hole RC program delivers notable high-grade gold intercepts
  • Best result: 29m at 3.91 g/t gold from 220m depth
  • British Hill sits on granted mining lease near existing processing hub
  • Drilling enhances geological understanding and supports resource expansion
  • Further development and metallurgical studies planned

High-Grade Gold Intercepts Confirm Depth Extension

Forrestania Resources (ASX:FRS) has extended the known mineralisation at its British Hill gold project with a recent six-hole reverse circulation (RC) drill program totaling 1,940 metres. The program delivered multiple high-grade intersections, including a standout 29 metres at 3.91 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 220 metres, confirming the continuity of mineralisation at depth.

Other significant intercepts include 26 metres at 2.06 g/t from 48 metres and 14 metres at 2.81 g/t from 142 metres, illustrating both shallow and deeper zones of economic interest. These results reinforce British Hill’s potential to evolve into a meaningful gold asset within Forrestania’s expanding Western Australian portfolio.

Strategic Location and Established Tenure

British Hill is located 75 kilometres south-southeast of Southern Cross in the prolific Yilgarn Mineral Field. The project benefits from a granted mining lease (M77/1256) and proximity to Forrestania’s existing processing infrastructure, enhancing its development appeal. The deposit lies within the Southern Cross-Forrestania Greenstone Belt, a well-known host for orogenic gold deposits.

The geological setting features high-grade quartz veins within sheared mafic and felsic lithologies, with mineralisation showing a sub-horizontal ladder-style architecture. The recent drilling was designed to test mineralisation both at depth and along strike, intersecting mineralised lodes with consistent grades and widths.

Advancing Towards Resource Growth and Development

Forrestania’s chairman David Geraghty highlighted the significance of these results, noting the consistency of mineralisation and encouraging deeper intercepts as strong indicators for further resource growth. The company is focusing on staged development drilling, mine planning, and metallurgical studies to advance British Hill towards production readiness.

With resource confidence increasing, Forrestania aims to convert a greater portion of the inferred resource into indicated status through infill drilling. The company is also exploring options to secure milling capacity for British Hill ore, leveraging its existing hubs at Edna May and Lake Johnston to create a scalable production platform.

Robust Drilling and Assay Protocols Underpin Confidence

The 2026 drilling program employed industry-standard RC and diamond tail techniques, with samples assayed by an independent laboratory using 50-gram fire assay methods. Quality assurance and quality control protocols included certified reference materials, blanks, and duplicates, all passing quality thresholds. Drill hole collars were accurately surveyed using DGPS and downhole surveys conducted with gyro instruments, ensuring reliable spatial data for resource modelling.

While downhole widths rather than true widths are reported, the drilling orientation was designed to intersect mineralisation as close to perpendicular as possible, reducing sampling bias. Forrestania continues to validate historic datasets and integrate new data to refine geological models.

Bottom Line?

British Hill’s robust high-grade results deepen Forrestania’s resource base, setting the stage for focused development and potential production integration within its growing WA gold portfolio.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will Forrestania prioritise capital allocation between British Hill and its other projects amid ongoing takeover activity?
  • What timelines and milestones will govern the conversion of inferred resources to indicated status at British Hill?
  • Will Forrestania secure a milling agreement soon to facilitate British Hill ore processing and accelerate project monetisation?
