Capital Raise Advances Lithium Refinery and Recycling Ambitions

Lithium Universe Limited (ASX:LU7) has successfully completed the first tranche of its latest share placement, raising $848,452 before costs by issuing 242.4 million new shares at a modest price of $0.0035 each. This injection of capital is earmarked to support working capital needs and accelerate key growth initiatives, notably the finalisation of the pre-feasibility study (PFS) for its Brownsville Lithium Refinery Project in Texas.

The Brownsville project positions Lithium Universe within the expanding US critical minerals and battery supply chain, leveraging strategic port infrastructure and proprietary lithium conversion technology. The refinery aims to tap into the growing demand for lithium hydroxide and other battery materials amid global energy transition efforts.

Shareholder Approval Pending for Second Tranche and Options

The placement includes a second tranche of approximately 14.7 million shares, expected to raise a further $51,548, contingent on shareholder approval at a general meeting anticipated in September 2026. Alongside this, the company plans to issue New Options on a one-for-two basis to investors participating in both tranches. These options carry an exercise price of $0.008 and expire in August 2028, offering potential upside if Lithium Universe’s share price appreciates.

Additionally, 62 Capital, the lead manager, is set to receive 15.4 million shares and 20 million options as remuneration, also subject to shareholder approval. This arrangement aligns the lead manager’s interests with the company’s growth trajectory.

Advancing Sustainable Metal Recovery Technologies

Beyond lithium refining, Lithium Universe is pushing forward with its innovative recycling projects. The company is developing solar panel recycling technology aimed at efficiently extracting valuable materials such as silver and silicon from end-of-life photovoltaic panels. This initiative taps into the rising global demand for circular economy solutions and sustainable resource recovery.

Separately, the company is progressing its gold and copper recovery technology, which has demonstrated strong extraction rates from electronic waste. This project builds on proprietary hydrometallurgical methods designed to offer environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional smelting. The technology’s focus on scale-up and commercial application could open new revenue streams in precious metals recycling.

Cleansing Statement Enables Immediate Trading

Lithium Universe has issued a Cleansing Statement allowing the newly issued shares from Tranche 1 to be traded immediately without on-sale restrictions. This provides liquidity for investors and facilitates market participation ahead of the upcoming shareholder meeting.

Bottom Line?

The successful first tranche of Lithium Universe’s placement provides crucial funding to advance its lithium refinery and recycling projects, but the full capital raise and options issuance hinge on shareholder approval in September.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will shareholder approval for the second tranche and options materialise as expected?
  • How will progress on the Brownsville refinery PFS influence Lithium Universe’s valuation?
  • Can the company commercialise its solar panel and gold-copper recycling technologies at scale?
