Drilling at Blanc Plat Extends Mon Ami Gold Mineralisation Northwards

Great Southern Mining’s latest assays from the Blanc Plat target reveal promising shallow gold intercepts that may represent a northern extension of the Mon Ami deposit, bolstering resource growth prospects near Laverton.

  • Blanc Plat drilling confirms potential northern extension of Mon Ami gold
  • Shallow oxide gold intercepts up to 14m at 1.05 g/t Au
  • Mon Ami resource open at depth with recent down-plunge extensions
  • Project located near multiple Laverton gold processing facilities
  • Ongoing drilling across Duketon and Edinburgh Park projects

Blanc Plat Drilling Highlights Northern Resource Extension

Great Southern Mining Limited (ASX:GSN) has reported assay results from a 10-hole reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Blanc Plat target, situated approximately 200 metres north of its flagship Mon Ami Gold Project in Western Australia. The results suggest Blanc Plat could be a northern extension of the main Mon Ami mineralisation along the Barnicoat Shear Zone, a key structural corridor hosting gold-bearing quartz veins.

Shallow drilling intercepted notable oxide gold mineralisation, including 14 metres at 1.05 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 36 metres, featuring a high-grade 1-metre interval at 6.33 g/t Au (hole 26MARC012). Other significant shallow intercepts include 7 metres at 0.7 g/t Au from 70 metres and 3 metres at 1.07 g/t Au from 38 metres. These complement historic Blanc Plat intercepts such as 2 metres at 4.8 g/t Au, reinforcing the target’s potential to augment the existing Mon Ami resource.

Extensional Drilling Confirms Depth Potential at Mon Ami

Recent extensional drilling at Mon Ami itself has demonstrated that mineralisation remains open at depth and along plunge, with standout results like 16 metres at 3.37 g/t Au from 178 metres, including higher-grade zones up to 8.54 g/t Au. These deeper intercepts extend the known resource footprint by up to 55 metres down plunge, underscoring the project’s upside potential beyond the current JORC 2012 Mineral Resource of 1.56 million tonnes at 1.11 g/t Au for 55,500 ounces.

Mon Ami’s strategic location approximately 12 kilometres south of Laverton and within trucking distance of multiple operating and emerging gold processing facilities adds to its near-term development appeal. A granted mining licence and haulage route licence further support the project’s readiness for advancement.

Ongoing Exploration Across Multiple Gold Projects

Beyond Mon Ami and Blanc Plat, Great Southern Mining continues active drilling campaigns at its broader Duketon Gold Project, with assays pending for 38 RC holes at the Golden Boulder discovery and 18 holes at the emerging Amy Clarke discovery. In Queensland, diamond drilling is underway at the Mt Dillon target within the Edinburgh Park Project, a joint venture with Gold Fields Ltd, targeting large intrusive-related gold systems.

Managing Director Matthew Keane emphasised the significance of the Blanc Plat results in the context of the company’s aggressive exploration strategy: “While it is still early days at Blanc Plat, this target is showing signs of being a potential extension to the Mon Ami deposit, which could complement the existing resource. Of particular importance is the prospect for further oxide mineralisation.”

Keane also highlighted the busy exploration phase across GSN’s portfolio, including the Duketon and Edinburgh Park projects, signalling a multi-front approach to resource growth and discovery.

Bottom Line?

Blanc Plat’s emerging mineralisation could materially expand Mon Ami’s footprint, but confirmation of true widths and resource upgrades will be crucial to unlocking development value.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will upcoming assay results from Golden Boulder and Amy Clarke influence GSN’s regional resource pipeline?
  • What timeline and studies are planned to convert Blanc Plat’s potential into a formal resource addition?
  • Can Mon Ami’s proximity to Laverton processing hubs accelerate its path to production?
