PhotonAssay Validates Broad High-Grade Gold Zones

Lachlan Star Limited (ASX:LSA) has released fresh assay results from its New Waverley Gold Project near Norseman, Western Australia, confirming broad zones of consistent, high-grade gold mineralisation. The 1-metre PhotonAssay sampling, applied to selected intervals from recent reverse circulation (RC) drilling, substantiates the company’s earlier 4-metre composite assays, revealing multi-metre widths of significant gold grades rather than isolated high-grade spikes.

Standout intercepts include 13 metres at 4 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 46 metres downhole, including 3 metres at 15.2 g/t (hole NWRC052), and 7 metres at 6.61 g/t including 2 metres at 21 g/t (NWRC051). These results reinforce the presence of a robust mineralised system with multiple higher-grade quartz vein shoots within a broader shear corridor. The new data supersede previous composite assays, providing a clearer picture of grade distribution and continuity.

Drilling Extends Mineralisation Down-Plunge and at Depth

Additional 4-metre composite assays from the Waverley Pit area extend the known mineralisation further down-plunge, with intercepts such as 12 metres at 4.01 g/t gold including 8 metres at 5.77 g/t from 52 metres (NWRC080). The mineralised trend remains open both down-plunge and at depth, offering promising targets for the upcoming drilling phase. Lachlan Star’s CEO Andrew Tyrrell highlighted that the structural controls identified through diamond drilling and RC follow-up continue to guide targeting strategies, focusing on extensions of higher-grade zones.

This ongoing drilling campaign builds on the company’s maiden diamond drilling program, which delivered key intercepts including 6.15 metres at 8.6 g/t gold, underpinning the structural model of a north-north-east trending mineralised shear corridor with a consistent north-westerly plunge. The continuity of mineralisation over approximately 400 metres of strike, with potential for more than 800 metres, situates New Waverley as a compelling exploration prospect within the Norseman district.

Drone Magnetics Highlight New Exploration Targets

Complementing the drilling success, a high-resolution drone magnetic survey covering approximately 1,500 line kilometres was recently completed, co-funded through the Western Australian Government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme. The survey, flown at 25-metre line spacing and 35 metres altitude, has significantly enhanced the geological understanding of the region, revealing multiple prospective structural corridors beyond the currently drilled Waverley Pit area.

Preliminary interpretations suggest these corridors host major shear zones and subsidiary structures critical to gold mineralisation. The magnetic data, integrated with geological mapping and soil geochemistry, will refine and prioritise targets for the next phase of exploration. This regional targeting approach aligns with the structural controls observed in drilling and may unlock additional high-grade shoots along the broader mineralised corridor.

Next Drilling Phase Scheduled for Late September

Lachlan Star plans to commence the next drilling campaign at New Waverley from late September to early October, subject to rig availability. This program aims to test extensions of known high-grade mineralisation and evaluate new priority targets identified through integrated geological and geophysical data. Selected 1-metre re-split samples from recent composite intervals have been submitted for PhotonAssay analysis, with results expected in September, which will further inform drilling strategies.

Situated within a highly prospective gold district, New Waverley lies just 16 kilometres northeast of Norseman and adjacent to established projects including Pantoro Gold’s 4.6 million ounce Norseman Gold Project. The geology reflects a classic Norseman-style system, with high-grade quartz reefs hosted within a mineralised shear corridor, comparable in style and scale to historic producers such as North Royal and Harlequin mines.
