Acquisition Transforms Forrestania's Asset Base
Forrestania Resources Limited (ASX:FRS) has sealed the deal to acquire the Edna May Gold Project from Ramelius Resources Limited in a transaction valued at approximately A$300 million. The purchase, comprising A$210 million in cash and 225 million newly issued Forrestania shares valued at A$90 million, marks a pivotal expansion for Forrestania's footprint in Western Australia's gold sector.
This acquisition brings Forrestania full ownership of the Edna May operations, including the processing facility and associated exploration licences, complementing its existing Lake Johnston processing hub. Together, these assets underpin Forrestania's ambition to become a major regional gold producer.
Capital Raising Supports Strategic Growth
The company also announced the successful completion of Tranche 2 of a A$310 million placement, which raised approximately A$215 million before costs following shareholder approval. This capital injection is set to fund refurbishment and recommissioning activities at both processing hubs, targeting a combined milling capacity exceeding six million tonnes per annum.
Executive Chairman David Geraghty emphasised the transformational nature of the acquisition, highlighting the strategic advantage of a dual processing hub model. "Edna May provides Forrestania with a second established processing hub and an established platform from which to accelerate our transition to becoming a significant Western Australian gold producer," Geraghty said.
Integration and Operational Outlook
With refurbishment mobilisations already underway at Edna May, Forrestania is positioning itself to leverage the complementary strengths of its new and existing assets. The dual hub strategy is designed to create operational flexibility and scalability, enabling the company to consolidate regional gold production efficiently.
Ramelius Resources, having divested Edna May, now holds a significant stake in Forrestania through the share issuance, aligning interests as Forrestania embarks on this next growth phase.
Bottom Line?
Forrestania’s acquisition of Edna May and capital raise set the stage for a dual-hub gold production platform, but the market will be watching closely how refurbishment timelines and integration unfold.
