Krakatoa Finds More High-Grade Gold and Antimony at Zopkhito

Krakatoa Resources has reported high-grade gold and antimony results from the first batch of its 2026 Zopkhito drilling assays, including 1.8 metres at 11.09 g/t gold and 3.56% antimony. The results support continuity at Vein 6 and identify mineralisation outside the project’s existing foreign estimate, but remain exploration results pending further drilling and a JORC assessment.

High-Grade Intercepts Extend Zopkhito Picture

Krakatoa Resources Limited (ASX:KTA) has produced an early set of high-grade results from its 2026 drilling campaign at the Zopkhito Antimony-Gold Project in Georgia, with all four initial surface holes intersecting mineralisation at Vein 6. The standout intercept was 1.8 metres at 11.09 grams per tonne gold and 3.56% antimony from DD26ZOP001, including 1.15 metres at 10.86 g/t gold and 5.51% antimony.

The assays also delivered sharp individual grades within the broader intersections. A 0.61-metre sample from DD26ZOP002 returned 15.3% antimony, while a separate sample from DD26ZOP001 reached 17.1 g/t gold. DD26ZOP004 returned a wider 6.74-metre interval at 4.71 g/t gold and 0.88% antimony, including 0.76 metres at 11.65 g/t gold and 2.65% antimony.

Underground Drilling Finds Mineralisation Beyond Estimate

Underground coring added a second dimension to the results. Samples from Vein 10 returned gold grades including 4.51 g/t over 0.67 metres, while drilling at Vein 50 produced 5.90 g/t gold over 0.25 metres and 1.93% antimony over 0.86 metres. Veins 50 and 61 sit outside the company’s historical foreign resource estimate, making the results relevant to the eventual scale of any updated geological model.

CEO Mark Major said the findings were consistent with the company’s 2025 results and historical high-grade mineralisation. He said the surface drilling had intersected the targeted veins and supported mineralisation trends modelled from Soviet-era exploration data. That is encouraging for resource work, although the company has not yet converted the historical estimate into a JORC 2012 Mineral Resource.

JORC Conversion Still Depends on More Work

Zopkhito currently carries a foreign estimate of 225,000 tonnes at 11.6% antimony and 7.1 million tonnes at 3.7 g/t gold. Krakatoa cautions that the estimate is not reported under JORC 2012, that a competent person has not completed sufficient work to classify it as a JORC Mineral Resource, and that the estimate may not ultimately convert into a compliant resource.

The reported intervals are downhole lengths rather than confirmed true widths. The company estimates surface intersections may represent roughly 55% to 95% of true width, while underground intersections may represent about 55% to 65%, reflecting the geometry and restricted drilling conditions. Two further batches of core are at the laboratory, with surface and underground coring continuing. Metallurgical sampling is also underway ahead of optimisation test work planned for October, alongside environmental baseline studies and permitting activity.

The first assays strengthen the geological case for Zopkhito, but the next value-defining step is not another spectacular sample: it is demonstrating continuity, true widths, metallurgy and a credible JORC-compliant resource.
