Sinclair drilling reveals more room beyond 1.8Moz gold resource
New assays from Sinclair Gold’s Mt Henry project extend mineralisation beyond the current 1.8Moz resource at both Mt Henry and Selene. Five rigs are continuing step-out drilling, with 33 holes outside the resource footprint still awaiting assays.
- Mineralisation extended up to approximately 100m beyond the Mt Henry resource boundary
- Selene drilling extends broad gold zones approximately 75m beyond its resource
- New intersections include 18m at 1.8g/t gold and 41.1m at 1.1g/t gold
- Five rigs remain active across two shallow, open deposits
- Next Mineral Resource update targeted before the end of FY27
Drilling stretches beyond the 1.8Moz resource
Sinclair Gold Ltd (ASX:SGC) has received assays extending gold mineralisation beyond the boundaries of its recently expanded 1.8Moz Mineral Resource at the Mt Henry Gold Project in Western Australia. The results do not yet change the resource estimate, but they add evidence that both Mt Henry and Selene remain open along strike and at depth.
The strongest headline result at Mt Henry was 18.0 metres at 1.8g/t gold from 315 metres, including 7.0 metres at 4.0g/t. Other intersections included 23.0 metres at 1.4g/t from 239 metres, including 15.0 metres at 1.9g/t, and 16.3 metres at 1.1g/t from 472.8 metres. Sinclair said the new drilling has extended known mineralisation by up to approximately 100 metres beyond the current resource boundary across two lodes, with a further extension of about 180 metres identified in the deposit’s central section.
The reported widths are downhole measurements rather than true widths, so the geometry of the mineralised zones remains important when assessing their eventual resource significance. The company reported the intercepts using a minimum 0.5g/t gold threshold, with no top-cut applied to the reported grades.
Selene adds broad shallow extensions
At Selene, a 41.1-metre intersection at 1.1g/t gold from 194.9 metres included 24.9 metres at 1.5g/t. A second hole returned 16.0 metres at 1.2g/t from 222 metres, including 6.3 metres at 2.1g/t. The company said the latest drilling extends known mineralisation approximately 75 metres beyond the current resource boundary.
Selene’s 0.9Moz resource is hosted in a broad, west-dipping banded iron formation and is defined to roughly 200 metres below surface, with mineralisation reported at up to about 50 metres thick. Mt Henry also carries a resource of approximately 0.9Moz across about two kilometres of strike. Together, the two deposits account for almost all of the project’s 1.8Moz resource, which Sinclair doubled within six months of acquiring the project.
Five rigs target the next resource update
Five rigs are now drilling across Mt Henry and Selene, while assays remain pending from 33 holes drilled outside the current resource footprint. Drilling is scheduled to continue through calendar 2026, with the next Mineral Resource update targeted before the end of FY27.
Sinclair also pointed to the wider opportunity across a roughly 16-kilometre mineralised corridor. Priority regional targets at Birthday Gift, Artemis and Plutus have yet to be drilled, and the company said large parts of the corridor have seen little historical exploration. It reported cash of $38.2 million as at 30 June 2026, in an undisclosed currency.
The immediate test is not whether the project can be described as multi-million-ounce in ambition, but how much of these exploration intersections can be converted into a formally updated resource with appropriate geological continuity and classification. Until that work is completed, the latest assays expand the geological footprint rather than establish additional ounces.
Bottom Line?
The next resource estimate will determine whether the new extensions translate into ounces, not merely longer drill sections.
Questions in the middle?
- How much of the 33-hole assay backlog will confirm continuity at grades suitable for resource inclusion?
- Will further drilling improve the classification of the extensions beyond exploration-stage results?
- Can Sinclair’s untested regional targets add a new deposit, or will growth remain concentrated at Mt Henry and Selene?
