Ore Resources opens new Kal East targets ahead of first drilling
Ore Resources has added 408.87 square kilometres to its Kal East gold footprint in Western Australia, but all 18 new tenements remain pending. The company plans to begin 3,000-5,000 metres of aircore drilling at Mt Monger in November, subject to heritage clearances.
- 408.87km² added through 18 pending tenement applications
- Kal East gold tenure now exceeds 1,100km²
- 3,000-5,000m Mt Monger drilling planned for November-December 2026
- Further 10,000-20,000m AC and RC programme targeted for 2027
- A$6.8 million cash and zero debt reported at 30 June 2026

Kal East footprint climbs above 1,100 square kilometres
Ore Resources Ltd (ASX:OR3) is expanding its Kal East gold position by more than 400 square kilometres, staking 18 new exploration and prospecting leases across the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. The 408.87km² addition increases the company’s Kal East tenure by more than 55%, taking its total gold exploration footprint in the project area above 1,100km².
The new applications cover parts of the Mt Monger, Randalls, Mt Belches and Aldiss districts, including greenstone and metasedimentary sequences that Ore considers prospective for orogenic gold mineralisation. The ground also includes tenure around the Aldiss Mining Centre and an application that surrounds Vault Minerals’ French Kiss gold mine. That positioning may improve Ore’s exposure to established mineralised corridors, although the applications must still progress through the grant process.
Mt Monger moves from target generation to drilling
The most immediate work is at Mt Monger, where seven new tenements add more than 18km² next to or contiguous with Ore’s existing ground. Heritage clearance surveys are about 50% complete, a Programme of Work has been approved, and the company expects to finish the remaining surveys in late October.
Ore plans to drill 3,000-5,000 metres of aircore holes across the Kims, Scotch Star and Rummy prospects during November and December 2026. The programme is designed to test shallow mineralisation and possible strike extensions at prospects that have historical drilling results but remain lightly tested by modern exploration methods.
Historical intercepts cited by the company include 9 metres at 6.25 grams per tonne gold from 9 metres at Kims, 10 metres at 5.80g/t from 61 metres at Scotch Star, and 5 metres at 7.94g/t from 42 metres at Rummy. Those results provide exploration targets, not a new discovery or a mineral resource, and the upcoming drilling will determine whether the mineralisation extends beyond the limited historical intersections.
2027 programme depends on approvals and tenure grants
Ore has outlined a larger 10,000-20,000 metre aircore and reverse circulation campaign across Kal East in early 2027. The programme is expected to follow up Mt Monger targets and begin maiden drilling at Randalls South before moving to Randalls North, where the company has identified gold-in-regolith anomalies along a structure extending for more than 30 kilometres.
The timetable remains conditional. Tenure grants, heritage clearances, stakeholder engagement and Heritage Protection Agreements are still required across parts of the expanded package. Ore reported A$6.8 million in cash and zero debt at 30 June 2026, which the company says positions it to advance its planned exploration, but the announcement does not provide programme cost estimates or a funding schedule for the full 2027 campaign.
Bottom Line?
The land grab gives Ore more ground and a near-term drilling catalyst, but the investment case now turns on tenure approvals and whether historical gold hits can be converted into repeatable mineralisation.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the 18 pending tenement applications progress to grant without materially delaying exploration at Randalls and the Karonie area?
- Can November’s Mt Monger drilling confirm extensions to the historical Kims, Scotch Star and Rummy intersections?
- How far will A$6.8 million of cash fund the planned 2027 drilling programme and other project commitments?
