Pointerra’s Digital Twin Pipeline Starts FY27 With Cashflow Momentum

Pointerra3D delivered its strongest first-quarter customer receipts on record and returned to positive operating cash flow as enterprise deployments broadened across utilities, mining, transport and infrastructure. The ASX-listed software company ended September with A$1.95 million in cash, while several larger opportunities remain at proof-of-value or pending-award stages.

  • Q1 customer receipts rose 64% year on year to A$3.25 million
  • Operating cash flow swung to a A$0.55 million inflow
  • Avista, PTA, Origin Energy and Agnico Eagle deployments advanced
  • Origin completed its first 750-kilometre pipeline survey
  • Amazon paused further yard mapping and US government awards remained pending

Record Q1 receipts push Pointerra into positive cash flow

Pointerra Limited (ASX:3DP) has started FY27 with its strongest first-quarter customer receipts, collecting A$3.25 million in the three months to 30 September 2026. That was 64% above the prior corresponding quarter and 51% higher than the June quarter, helping produce a A$0.55 million net operating cash inflow.

The result marks a sharp improvement from the A$0.09 million operating cash outflow in Q4 FY26 and the A$0.30 million outflow in Q1 FY26. Cash and cash equivalents rose to A$1.95 million at quarter-end, although the filing does not disclose revenue, profit or the value of most customer engagements. Pointerra said Q2 cash generation was expected to benefit from receivables, renewals and contracted work already in hand.

Utility deployments provide the quarter’s commercial backbone

Utilities supplied much of the quarter’s enterprise momentum. A three-year direct subscription with Avista Corporation commenced during Q1, combining Pointerra3D Core with contracted Poles and Wires Analytics consumption. The arrangement shifts the relationship from contractor-led delivery to a direct investor-owned utility account.

Davey Resource Group expanded its analytics commitment for Baltimore Gas and Electric’s vegetation-management program, while United Utility Services renewed its Core and Poles and Wires subscriptions. PG&E began a five-month proof-of-value process for inspections under its Enterprise Access Safety Program, extending the platform beyond its existing data catalogue and emergency-management deployments. The quarter also included renewals from SA Power Networks and Western Power, following the earlier Western Power contract that covered digital twins for Western Australian substations.

Pointerra’s US Department of Energy GRACI program with Georgia Power and Baringa passed its twelfth milestone. The company reported that early results indicated a material cost advantage over satellite-based vegetation-risk assessment, but the program remains an engagement with further commercial milestones rather than a completed broad-market rollout.

Origin and Agnico deployments test repeatable analytics

In resources and infrastructure, Pointerra completed the first drone survey of Origin Energy’s approximately 750-kilometre Queensland gas transmission pipeline network. Carbonix acquired and processed the lidar and imagery data through Pointerra3D, with the teams now configuring change analytics and detection thresholds ahead of a second survey scheduled for November. The work puts the platform’s automated pipeline-monitoring proposition into operational use after the earlier Origin pipeline contract.

Agnico Eagle also moved its Fosterville gold mine deployment into implementation, using Pointerra3D Core and the Underground Analytics Pack to automate convergence monitoring previously handled through desktop workflows. A separate 12-week proof of value began at a Tier 1 miner’s copper operations in Mongolia, covering automated scan processing and export into the Deswik mine-planning environment. Both deployments still have validation or success gates ahead of them.

Growth pipeline widens, but conversion remains the test

Pointerra added routes into new customers through an Inertial Labs channel referral partnership for lidar hardware users and a Carahsoft partnership targeting US government, state and defence buyers. The company also reported renewals and new activity across survey and mapping, transport, AECO and mining, including a guaranteed three-year PTA commitment through August 2029 and further licences within the global Jacobs account.

Not every opportunity moved forward. Amazon again paused its Yard Mapping activity while reassessing its wider yard-automation rollout, while two US$1 million Department of Energy JARVIS proposals remained pending and task orders under the GRIDS IV framework with Leidos had not commenced. The quarter therefore shows stronger cash conversion and a broader customer base, but the next evidence point is whether proof-of-value projects and paused or pending opportunities convert into recurring enterprise commitments.

Bottom Line?

The immediate question is whether Pointerra can sustain positive operating cash flow while turning its expanding proof-of-value pipeline into contracted recurring revenue.

Questions in the middle?

  • Can Q2 receipts and operating cash flow maintain the momentum established in the September quarter?
  • Will Origin’s second pipeline survey and Agnico Eagle’s success gates lead to broader deployments?
  • When, if ever, will Amazon resume Yard Mapping and the pending JARVIS and GRIDS IV opportunities progress?
