49 Metals' drilling reveals a broader Gold Mountain system in Nevada

49 Metals says every hole in its maiden Gold Mountain campaign intersected gold or silver, including a high-grade 27.4-metre interval and a 170.7-metre broad intercept. A second drilling campaign is now testing whether the Adit Zone has the continuity and scale needed to support a maiden mineral resource estimate in 2027.

  • 22 of 22 maiden RC holes intersected gold and/or silver mineralisation
  • 27.4m at 8.3g/t gold, including 9.1m at 21.9g/t
  • 170.7m at 0.9g/t gold marks the thickest intercept to date
  • Second campaign targeting Adit Zone extensions and feeder-structure continuity
  • Potential 2027 maiden resource remains subject to drilling results

Gold Mountain drilling expands the exploration case

Every one of 49 Metals Limited's (ASX:49M) 22 reverse-circulation holes at its Gold Mountain project in Nevada intersected gold and/or silver mineralisation, giving the junior explorer a strong result from its first drilling campaign. The headline intersections range from a high-grade 27.4 metres at 8.3g/t gold in hole DRC#9, including 9.1 metres at 21.9g/t, to a much broader 170.7 metres at 0.9g/t in DRC#22.

Those results are downhole lengths, not confirmed true widths. Even so, 49 Metals says the combination of broad lower-grade mineralisation and distinct higher-grade structures is consistent with a potentially large epithermal system that remains open in all directions. The company’s own presentation frames the exploration question plainly: the existence of mineralisation is established, while its ultimate size is not.

Adit Zone results support a repeatable feeder corridor

The high-grade Adit Zone interpretation is built around more than one hole. DRC#16 returned 15.2 metres at 2.4g/t gold, including 6.1 metres at 5.0g/t, about 40 metres along strike from the discovery hole, while DRC#19 delivered 67.1 metres at 1.7g/t, including 10.7 metres at 8.4g/t. 49 Metals says the repeated geochemical signature and elevated pathfinder elements support the view that the feeder is not a single narrow structure.

The broad mineralised envelope also extends beyond those higher-grade intervals. DRC#16 intersected 64 metres at 1.0g/t, DRC#18 returned 29 metres at 1.3g/t and DRC#8 returned 33.5 metres at 1.1g/t. The presentation describes these results as evidence of a widespread hydrothermal system, but the geometry and true thickness of the mineralisation still need to be established. The earlier Adit Zone drilling results had already pointed to a broad envelope around the feeder corridor.

Second campaign becomes the next test

Drilling is now underway to test extensions of the Adit discovery along strike and down dip, as well as the continuity and geometry of the interpreted feeder structure. Initial assays are expected in approximately four to six weeks, subject to laboratory turnaround times. The campaign follows the first Gold Mountain follow-up program, which was described as targeting the same open extensions.

Subject to the new results, 49 Metals says the work will guide further drilling and potentially lead towards a maiden mineral resource estimate in 2027. That is a stated exploration pathway, not a resource declaration or development decision. The company reported A$6.8 million in cash at 30 June 2026, with a market capitalisation of about A$8.2 million at a share price of A$0.10 in the presentation.

Historical inventory carries a clear qualification

Gold Mountain also has a historical foreign estimate of about 462,000 ounces of gold equivalent at a 0.1g/t AuEq cut-off, based on 39.9 million tonnes at 0.36g/t AuEq. That estimate is not JORC compliant, has not been independently validated by 49 Metals and cannot be treated as a current Mineral Resource or Ore Reserve. The company says no work has been undertaken in the area of that estimate since its effective date, while the maiden drilling focused on the Adit Zone elsewhere in the project.

The project sits about five kilometres south-west of Tonopah in Nevada’s Walker Lane trend, with access to the US-95 highway and a mix of patented and unpatented claims. 49 Metals is earning up to a 75% interest through US$4 million of expenditure and completion of a pre-feasibility study. For now, the more immediate question is whether the next assays turn an encouraging collection of downhole intersections into a coherent, potentially resource-scale system.

Bottom Line?

The next assay batch should help determine whether Gold Mountain’s broad envelope and higher-grade feeder can be connected into a defensible geological model, rather than remaining a set of promising drill intersections.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will follow-up drilling confirm meaningful true widths and continuity along the Adit Zone?
  • Can the higher-grade feeder structures be traced within the broader lower-grade mineralised envelope?
  • Will the 2027 resource target remain realistic after the second campaign’s results and geological interpretation?
