$2.9 Million Placement Funds Dundas Gold Campaign
Dundas Minerals Limited (ASX:DUN) has secured $2.879 million in firm placement commitments, giving the junior gold explorer fresh capital to push ahead with drilling across its Kalgoorlie portfolio and the Romano Gold Project in Western Australia. The issue price of 4.5 cents per share is an 11.8% discount to Dundas’s last closing price and a 10.2% discount to its 15-day VWAP.
The raising will issue up to 63.98 million new shares. That gives Dundas room to advance its exploration program, but also means existing shareholders will see their ownership diluted as the new securities enter the register. The proceeds are earmarked for exploration and development, general working capital and the costs of the placement rather than for a single near-term production project.
Forrestania Chairman Takes 5.57% Stake
The most notable commitment comes from David Geraghty, executive chairman of Forrestania Resources (ASX:FRS), who will invest $750,000. On completion, Geraghty is expected to hold approximately 5.57% of Dundas, making him a substantial shareholder. Dundas said he has 30 years of resources-sector experience, including 21 years at Mineral Resources (ASX:MIN).
Geraghty’s investment arrives as Dundas works through the exploration program launched in September. The company’s Rockland campaign followed recent Rockland drilling results, which extended interpreted gold mineralisation to about 170 metres below surface, although one-metre verification assays remained pending. Dundas now expects remaining Rockland results, including those re-assays, over the coming weeks.
Drilling Targets Stretch Across Kalgoorlie and Romano
At Kalgoorlie, the new money will support follow-up drilling at Rockland, including tests of depth and strike extensions, alongside work at the Capricorn mining lease and the largely untested Rockland-Aquarius-Capricorn corridor. Results from Capricorn and Baden-Powell are expected during the December 2026 quarter, with an updated Mineral Resource Estimate targeted for the fourth quarter.
Romano will receive funding for the next exploration phase at the Bloodwood and Brahman prospects, as well as heritage and access work. The program builds on the Bloodwood licence grant, which secured a 270-square-kilometre exploration licence covering a five-kilometre gold anomaly, but the filing does not provide a drilling timetable or exploration budget split between the projects.
Director Funding and Broker Options Still Need Approval
Directors have committed an additional $235,000 at the same issue price, but that tranche requires shareholder approval at Dundas’s upcoming general meeting. The company has also proposed issuing Taurus Capital Group 10 million unlisted broker options, exercisable at 7.5 cents for three years, subject to the same approval process. Taurus will receive a 6% fee on funds raised, plus GST.
The first tranche, worth $2.644 million, is expected to be issued under Dundas’s existing placement capacities. The approval-dependent director tranche would add 5.22 million shares if passed. The immediate test is therefore not just whether the capital arrives, but whether Dundas can convert it into the promised sequence of assays, drilling results and resource-definition work without further funding pressure.
Bottom Line?
Dundas has bought itself a clearer exploration runway, but the investment case now turns on assay delivery, resource growth and shareholder approval for the remaining tranche and broker options.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the remaining Rockland assays support the company’s interpretation of deeper and extended mineralisation?
- Can the planned drilling convert the Kalgoorlie corridor and Romano prospects into a stronger resource case?
- Will shareholders approve the $235,000 director tranche and 10 million broker options?
