Record Australian marketplace growth

Airtasker Limited (ASX:ART) opened FY27 with its strongest Australian quarter on record, lifting gross marketplace volume 20.9% year on year to $57.3 million. The result was more than three times the growth rate recorded in the first quarter of FY26, when Australian GMV increased 6.1%.

Revenue rose 15.0% to $12.2 million, while booked tasks increased 7.8%. Average task prices climbed 12.2%, which Airtasker attributed to refreshed customer pricing and inflationary effects. Group revenue reached $14.0 million for the quarter, although the reported figures are unaudited and the Australian comparisons exclude the retired Oneflare marketplace.

Membership growth changes the revenue profile

Paid subscriptions passed 25,000 globally at 30 September, up from 10,000 at the end of June and including more than 22,100 Australian members. The company remains on track for its FY27 target of more than 50,000 paid subscribers.

The expanding membership base also explains why revenue is growing more slowly than GMV. Membership fees are included in GMV when customers pay, but recognised as revenue over the membership period. Cash therefore arrives ahead of revenue recognition, a dynamic Airtasker says will persist until membership growth matures.

Media investment and international expansion

Airtasker said it had secured $11.0 million in media capital over three years through new partnerships with Nova Entertainment and oOh!media. Combined with Nine Entertainment, which was part of the company’s earlier media partnership program, total Australian media capital has reached $16.0 million. Airtasker reported a further 9% year-on-year increase in unprompted brand awareness during the quarter, following a 20% uplift in FY26.

The UK delivered 39.0% year-on-year revenue growth to £0.8 million, equivalent to $1.4 million, with September GMV annualised at $26.4 million. The US recorded 20.9% revenue growth to US$0.3 million, or $0.4 million, and a September GMV annual run rate of US$6.1 million, equivalent to $8.6 million. Both markets are now entering their seasonally softer autumn and winter period, with Airtasker expecting GMV to weaken through the second and third quarters before recovering in the fourth.

FY27 targets remain unchanged

Airtasker reaffirmed its FY27 guidance, including double-digit Australian revenue growth, higher Australian cash flow generation from the $16.5 million achieved in FY26, more than 50,000 paid subscribers and positive group free cash flow. It also expects the UK to grow while reducing cash investment, and plans targeted marketing with media partners to support US growth.

The figures offer a strong start, but the next test is conversion. Airtasker must turn record marketplace activity and upfront membership cash into sustained revenue and cash flow while its northern-hemisphere businesses navigate their softer season. The next quarterly update should show whether subscriber growth is continuing at the same pace and whether international investment is beginning to taper as promised.

Bottom Line?

Airtasker has started FY27 with strong marketplace momentum, but execution now hinges on converting membership growth into recognised revenue and reducing international cash investment through the seasonal slowdown.

Questions in the middle?

  • Can Airtasker sustain paid subscriber growth from 25,000 toward its 50,000 FY27 target?
  • Will higher average task prices support GMV without weakening task volumes or customer engagement?
  • Can the UK and US businesses grow while reducing cash investment ahead of the expected fourth-quarter seasonal recovery?
