Recharge Metals has secured firm commitments for a $4.1 million placement ahead of its first 30,000-metre drilling campaign at Sunset Well. The raise lifts pro forma cash to approximately $8 million and also funds copper-tungsten work at Brandy Hill South.
- $4.1 million placement at $0.036 per share
- 114.7 million new shares to be issued
- 30,000-metre Sunset Well drilling program due to begin in October
- Funds Ironstone Well permitting, heritage work and drilling
- Pro forma cash balance rises to approximately $8 million
$4.1 Million Placement Backs Imminent Drilling
Recharge Metals Limited (ASX:REC) has secured $4.1 million from existing shareholders, new sophisticated investors and long-only institutions, giving the explorer a larger financial runway just as its most substantial field program is about to begin.
The placement will issue 114.7 million new shares at $0.036 each, a discount of approximately 2.5% to Recharge's 10-day VWAP before its trading halt. The company expects the shares to be allotted around 22 October 2026, subject to the indicative timetable, with the securities issued under its existing placement capacity.
Sunset Well Takes Priority as Leonora Footprint Expands
Most of the money is directed towards the Sunset Well Gold Project near Leonora, Western Australia, including an inaugural 30,000-metre drilling program planned for October. The work will target the 94.5-kil-ounce Inferred Prospero Deposit, the broader Prospero Trend and the recently acquired Ironstone Well area.
That enlarged target area follows Recharge's Ironstone Well acquisition, which added ground to the northern end of the Prospero Trend. Recharge says the trend now extends for 15 kilometres and includes areas that have not been drilled since the 1990s. Funding will cover permitting, heritage surveys and drilling at Ironstone Well, rather than leaving the new ground as a purely prospective extension.
Executive Technical Director Samuel Ekins said the Prospero resource remains open and has only three holes deeper than 100 metres. Those comments describe the company's exploration rationale, not a new resource estimate: the existing Prospero figure remains an Inferred MRE of 2.87 million tonnes at 1.0 gram per tonne gold for 94.5 kilounces, calculated at a 0.5 gram per tonne cut-off.
Brandy Hill South Receives a Second Funding Stream
Recharge will also use the proceeds to advance its Brandy Hill South Copper-Tungsten Project near Geraldton. Planned activities include tungsten re-assays, metallurgical test work and aircore drilling, alongside continued generation of early-stage exploration targets.
The allocation comes after Brandy Hill tungsten assays identified higher tungsten grades in selected re-assayed samples and strengthened the company's view that the project may represent a broader copper-tungsten-molybdenum system. The filing does not provide a new estimate of scale or economic viability, leaving further assays and metallurgical work as important tests of that interpretation.
Cash Rises, but Exploration Still Carries the Risk
Recharge says its pro forma cash balance is now approximately $8 million. Canaccord Genuity Australia and Ord Minnett acted as joint lead managers and brokers, with commissions of up to 5% of placement proceeds available to them. The new shares will increase the company's issued capital, although the announcement does not state the resulting dilution as a percentage.
The immediate question is execution. The placement provides funding for a sizeable drilling campaign, but exploration results, permitting, heritage work and metallurgical testing will determine whether the additional capital produces a meaningful change in the projects' technical outlook. The first assays from Sunset Well should matter more than the size of the cash balance alone.
Bottom Line?
Recharge now has the money to move from a long-promised drilling campaign to field execution, but the investment case still turns on what the rig finds across the Prospero Trend.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the 30,000-metre Sunset Well program begin on schedule and deliver meaningful extensions beyond the existing Prospero resource?
- How quickly can Recharge secure permitting and complete heritage work at the newly acquired Ironstone Well area?
- Will further tungsten assays and metallurgical testing establish a commercially relevant Brandy Hill South system?
