Refurbished technology leads Q1 sales
Harris Technology Group Limited (ASX:HT8) has carried its refurbished technology strategy into FY27 with the category generating approximately $2.6 million in Q1 revenue, or about 60% of the group’s $4.3 million quarterly sales. It is now the company’s largest category by both revenue and net profit contribution.
The result kept revenue level with Q4 FY26, while customer receipts reached $4.7 million. Refurbished sales also passed the $1 million monthly mark in July, when revenue reached approximately $1.04 million, following the July refurbished sales record that marked the category’s first monthly result above that threshold.
Margins and cash flow improve
The refurbished category delivered an average gross margin of approximately 37% during the quarter, well ahead of the group’s IT category at about 19%. Blended gross margin improved to 33.9%, compared with 30.9% in Q4 FY26.
That margin profile helped Harris Technology produce $98,000 of positive operating cash flow in the quarter. The company generated $0.9 million in operating cash across FY26, making the latest result a continuation of the recent cash-generation trend rather than a one-off disclosure in isolation. The FY27 figures remain unaudited.
Debt falls as liquidity strengthens
Harris Technology repaid approximately $701,000 of borrowings during the quarter, reducing drawn debt from $1.25 million at 30 June to $557,000 at 30 September. The managing director and chief executive’s personal loan was fully repaid, while the balance owed to GWH Trust, an entity controlled by Garrison Huang, fell to $557,000.
Cash at quarter-end stood at $1.299 million, with a further $2.443 million available under financing facilities. That left total available funding of $3.742 million. Both facilities are provided by Huang or a related entity: one is a $2 million unsecured loan facility from GWH Trust, with $556,610 drawn at 6% annual interest, while a separate $1 million facility from Huang remained undrawn. The facilities expire on 30 September 2027.
Parts delays interrupt refurbished supply
The quarter was not entirely smooth. Harris Technology said delayed parts deliveries used to refurbish laptops reduced sales in August and September; the parts arrived in October. The company did not quantify the revenue lost during the disruption, leaving subsequent monthly sales an important test of whether the issue was temporary.
Inventory declined to $2.5 million from $2.9 million at the end of FY26, despite $3.428 million spent on inventory purchases during the quarter. The company also said it is reducing exposure to lower-grade products and focusing on A-grade stock, while continuing to sell some lower-grade refurbished products through its own channels. Its stated priority now is to improve quality assurance and customer experience ahead of the Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas retail period.
Bottom Line?
The next quarter should show whether October parts availability restores refurbished sales momentum without putting pressure on inventory, margins or related-party funding.
Questions in the middle?
- Did refurbished sales recover in October after the delayed parts arrived?
- Can Harris Technology sustain positive operating cash flow through the heavier seasonal trading period?
- How quickly will the remaining related-party borrowing be repaid, and will the available facilities continue to be needed?
