$176,000 cash and 0.81 quarters of funding for Cullen

Mining By Maxwell Dee 6 min read

Cullen Resources has extended shallow gold-silver-copper targets at Yardilla and identified a new conductor for drilling at North Tuckabianna. But with $176,000 in cash and an estimated 0.81 quarters of funding, the next exploration steps will likely depend on new financing or asset sales.

  • Yardilla’s Lila and Cleanthes prospects now define roughly 2km-long multi-metal targets
  • Results included 2.42 g/t gold with 2,610ppm copper over 1m
  • North Tuckabianna survey identified a bedrock conductor modelled at about 200m depth
  • Finland drilling returned up to 0.98% copper over 1m but no significant gold
  • Quarter-end cash fell to $176,000, equal to 0.81 quarters of reported funding

Cash position puts follow-up drilling under pressure

Cullen Resources Limited (ASX:CUL) ended the September quarter with just $176,000 in cash, equivalent to an estimated 0.81 quarters of funding at the reported cash outflow rate. The explorer spent $217,000 on net operating activities during the quarter, including $89,000 on exploration, $81,000 on staff and related-party payments, and $47,000 on administration and corporate costs.

The company said it expects funding to be forthcoming if required through equity, borrowings or sales of non-core assets. That is a plan rather than committed financing: the quarter produced $100,000 in cash from the Bromus tenement sale, while the remaining $350,000 consideration was paid in Sinclair Gold shares. Cullen’s low cash balance also sits alongside the funding uncertainty flagged in its recent annual reporting, which followed a royalty sale and a qualified audit opinion over certain iron ore-related asset valuations in the FY2026 funding warning.

Yardilla drilling extends two multi-metal targets

The strongest exploration narrative remains Yardilla, where first-pass air core drilling at the Lila and Cleanthes prospects confirmed and extended historical gold anomalies. Resampling produced a peak 1m result of 2.42 grams per tonne gold, 2,610 parts per million copper and 6.7 grams per tonne silver, while another result returned 20m at 0.11 g/t gold from 30m.

Cullen now interprets both prospects as roughly 2km-long target areas, with gold, copper and silver anomalism associated with weathered gneisses near major lithological contacts and the regional Cundeelee Fault. The results resemble the Yardilla multi-metal anomalies reported in September, but remain early-stage exploration indications rather than a mineral resource or economic discovery. The company says deeper air core and/or reverse-circulation drilling is the priority, with further work intended to test the targets down dip, along strike and across untested structural sections.

North Tuckabianna conductor moves towards a drill test

At the 100%-owned North Tuckabianna project near Cue, Cullen commissioned a moving-loop electromagnetic survey over a trend of earlier VTEM anomalies. October fieldwork identified a bedrock conductor on a felsic-mafic contact, close to gold anomalies from earlier air core and RC drilling and about 2km southeast of Cyprium Metals’ Hollandaire copper-gold resource.

The conductor has been modelled at roughly 200m below ground level, with a 200m drill hole proposed to test it. The target is prospective rather than proven: the filing describes the conductor and its geological setting, but provides no drilling result from the new target.

Finland returns copper sulphides but no significant gold

In Northern Finland, two diamond holes totalling 669.2m at Killerö West intersected chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite-bearing quartz-carbonate veining and deeper foliation-parallel sulphides. The best reported copper result was 1m at 0.98% Cu, while no significant gold values were returned. The joint venture says the source of the original gold anomalies may not yet have been intersected.

The Finland position has also become more defined: Tümad met its minimum Year 1 investment commitment and elected to discontinue further expenditure, leaving the projects at 80% Capella Minerals and 20% Cullen ownership, with Tümad retaining a 1% net smelter royalty over potential future production. Elsewhere, Cullen’s carried interests continue to generate targets at Mt Eureka and Killaloe, while first-pass mapping and sampling are planned at Marymia and reconnaissance work is planned on the newly applied Errabiddy tenement.

Bottom Line?

Yardilla has supplied credible targets for the next drilling phase, but Cullen’s $176,000 cash balance means the timing and terms of any funding could matter as much as the assays.

Questions in the middle?

  • Can Cullen secure funding before its reported 0.81-quarter cash runway constrains Yardilla and North Tuckabianna drilling?
  • Will deeper drilling at Lila and Cleanthes establish continuity and orientation beyond the current shallow anomalies?
  • Can the North Tuckabianna conductor produce copper-gold mineralisation when tested at depth?
