A$941,468 cash leaves Marquee with 1.85 quarters of estimated funding
Marquee Resources advanced gold, lithium and antimony exploration during the September quarter, but ended with A$941,468 in cash and an estimated 1.85 quarters of funding. Yindi drilling stopped early in difficult ground, while West Spargoville produced encouraging surface results that now require follow-up work.
- A$941,468 cash at 30 September, equivalent to 1.85 quarters of estimated funding
- Yindi RC drilling ended after 227 metres, with assays pending and deeper targets untested
- West Spargoville returned 10 lithium samples above 1% Li₂O and gold results up to 1.20 g/t

Funding runway tightens as exploration advances
Marquee Resources Limited (ASX:MQR) is trying to concentrate a sprawling exploration portfolio around a small number of priority projects, but its September-quarter report puts the funding constraint plainly on the table. The company held A$941,468 in cash at 30 September, down from A$986,090 at the end of June, and estimated that its available funding covered 1.85 quarters of relevant outgoings. Marquee said it does not expect the current level of net operating cash flows to continue, while identifying equity, project-level joint ventures, earn-ins, royalty or streaming deals and asset sales as possible funding avenues.
The quarter included A$500,000 of Tranche 2 placement proceeds and a A$549,122 R&D tax refund, alongside about A$45,751 from the earlier entitlement offer. Even with those inflows, operating activities used A$584,000 and exploration and evaluation payments totalled A$474,000 in the cash-flow statement. Exploration expenditure reported under the activities section was A$553,000, mainly covering Yindi drilling, West Spargoville fieldwork, assays, tenement costs and geological consulting.
Yindi drilling stopped before deeper targets were tested
At the 100%-owned Yindi Gold and Lithium Project in Western Australia, Marquee’s maiden RC campaign delivered geological information but not yet the primary exploration result it was designed to seek. The program was planned for eight holes and about 1,125 metres, but only three holes were drilled for 227 metres before water-bearing sands and unstable weathered rock forced an early stop. Two holes reached fresh rock, while five planned holes were not drilled.
The company submitted 55 samples from the two deeper holes for gold fire assay and multi-element analysis, with results still pending at the report date. The planned targets beneath the transported cover therefore remain untested. Marquee is assessing a revised approach using cased RC pre-collars and diamond tails, subject to technical review, funding, access and approvals, following its Yindi RC campaign, which had targeted the central corridor beneath the soil anomaly.
West Spargoville adds lithium and gold targets
West Spargoville supplied the clearest near-term exploration momentum. The 49-sample field program, completed during the quarter and reported after quarter end, produced 10 samples above 1% Li₂O, led by results of 2.65% and 2.42% Li₂O. The results sit across several mapped pegmatite trends within an approximately 1.5 km by 1.5 km target area. The work built on a West Spargoville program that identified historical drilling as largely oblique to the interpreted northeast-southwest pegmatite geometry.
The same fieldwork identified a separate gold trend where Marquee retains 100% of the gold rights. Five selective grab samples returned at least 0.30 g/t gold, including 1.20 g/t and 0.803 g/t gold. Those are surface results, and the company cautions that the peak result came from quartz-breccia float, so it does not establish the location, width or grade continuity of a bedrock source. Marquee plans infill soil sampling, structural mapping and a redesigned approximately 2,000-metre RC program for lithium, with first-phase gold testing proposed alongside it subject to interpretation and approvals.
Portfolio review leaves monetisation as a key test
Mt Clement remains scheduled for Phase 3 drilling in 2027, targeting extensions to the Eastern Hills Inferred Mineral Resource and material for further metallurgical assessment. The resource is reported at 1.93 million tonnes grading 0.5% antimony and containing approximately 10,000 tonnes of antimony, but the next drilling program remains subject to funding, access and approvals.
Meanwhile, Marquee is considering sales, joint ventures, earn-ins or other structures for assets including Redlings and Clayton Valley, while evaluating strategic options for Lone Star. The proposed Tungsten Mountain acquisition has been terminated after shareholders rejected the share issues linked to the transaction. That leaves the company with a narrower stated priority list of Yindi, West Spargoville and Mt Clement, but also with a clear question about how much exploration can be funded before the next capital or asset transaction becomes necessary.
Bottom Line?
The next inflection points are Yindi assays and West Spargoville drilling decisions, but both sit alongside an estimated 1.85-quarter funding runway.
Questions in the middle?
- Will Yindi assays justify a cased RC and diamond program after the first campaign stopped short of its deeper targets?
- Can West Spargoville’s surface lithium and gold results translate into drill targets with demonstrable continuity?
- Which funding or asset-monetisation pathway will Marquee pursue before its reported cash runway narrows further?
