Tribune Resources generated $8.0 million of operating cash in the September quarter, lifted its cash balance to $11.8 million and declared a fully franked 20 cents per share dividend. The result came despite an 11% quarter-on-quarter fall in group gold mined as lower grades weighed on output.
- Tribune’s 75% share of quarterly gold production was 8,723 ounces
- Rand and Tribune processed 137,992 tonnes at 2.81 g/t gold
- Cash increased by $3.7 million to $11.8 million

Cash generation supports 20c fully franked dividend
Tribune Resources Limited (ASX:TBR) has paired a cash-generative September quarter with a substantial shareholder return, declaring a fully franked dividend of 20 cents per share as its cash balance rose to $11.8 million. The dividend is franked at the company tax rate of 30%, with payment scheduled for 16 December 2026.
The payout sits alongside a $3.7 million quarterly increase in cash. Operating activities generated a net inflow of $8.0 million, more than covering $3.4 million of investing outflows and $0.9 million of financing outflows. Tribune attributed the stronger operating cash result to customer receipts and lower income tax and finance payments.
The board said future dividends remain discretionary and subject to the company meeting financial commitments, funding overheads and regulatory costs, assessing new opportunities and maintaining sufficient working capital. That qualification matters: the latest dividend is declared, but the filing does not establish a recurring payout policy.
East Kundana produces 11,630 ounces
At the East Kundana Joint Venture, Tribune and Rand processed 137,992 tonnes of ore at an average head grade of 2.81 grams per tonne through Evolution Mining’s Mungari processing plant. Recovery was 93.09%, producing 11,630 ounces of gold in total and 8,723 ounces attributable to Tribune’s 75% share.
Mining delivered a less buoyant signal than processing. The combined Tribune and Rand allocation of ore mined fell 11% from the previous quarter to 221,396 tonnes at 2.05 g/t, producing 11,371 ounces on a mined basis. The company said lower mined grades drove the decline. Underground operations at RHP and Raleigh supplied 15,936 ounces, while the Hornet and Golden Hind open pits contributed 13,785 ounces.
The operating result follows a strong full-year report in which Tribune reported higher revenue and profit, although that result included a $35.0 million reversal of a prior Raleigh impairment. Year-end cash in that earlier report was $8.1 million, making the latest quarter’s increase notable even before the new dividend is paid. FY2026 profit surge had also highlighted Tribune’s larger annual share of EKJV production.
Startrek drilling remains the main exploration thread

Exploration activity was concentrated on Startrek within the EKJV, where 7,831 metres of drilling was completed during the first quarter of FY2027. Five diamond holes tested mineralisation at depth, while 4,994 metres of reverse-circulation drilling targeted mineralisation near surface. Assay results from the surface campaign had not been returned by quarter-end.
Tribune said the reported drilling results had not been incorporated into a new or updated Mineral Resource estimate and that there was no material change to previously reported EKJV resources. Future work is expected to include further drilling and resource-model updates to support internal mine planning and exploration targeting.
Dividend timing and production grades set the next test
The dividend’s ex-date is 19 November 2026, followed by a 20 November record date. Tribune also maintained its on-market buyback during the quarter, but bought back no shares; the program began in May and remains scheduled to run until May 2027. $27.8 million buyback was previously announced as a potential capital-return mechanism, but the latest filing shows no repurchases in the period.
For the market, the tension is clear enough: cash generation and the declared dividend are positive, while the 11% fall in mined ounces puts greater weight on grade performance and the contribution from the open pits. The next quarterly numbers will show whether September’s lower mined grades were temporary variability or the beginning of a more persistent operational drag.
Bottom Line?
Tribune has the cash to fund this dividend today; the harder question is whether grades and mined ounces can support similar distributions tomorrow.
Questions in the middle?
- Can EKJV mined grades recover after the September quarter’s 11% decline in gold mined?
- Will Startrek drilling translate into a meaningful resource update or future mine-planning change?
- How much capital will Tribune ultimately return through dividends and the still-active buyback?
