Proteomics International expands Promarker reach through Healius

Proteomics International has begun the national rollout of its Promarker D and Promarker Eso blood tests through Healius, while a A$2 million tax incentive receipt has lifted pro forma cash to A$3.8 million. Promarker Endo also cleared an independent Oxford validation hurdle, but its commercial launch remains conditional.

Healius Takes Promarker Tests National

Proteomics International Laboratories Ltd (ASX:PIQ) has moved its first two commercial tests from a controlled launch into national distribution, giving Promarker D and Promarker Eso access to Healius’ Australian pathology network from 26 October. The rollout follows the company’s national Promarker rollout, which initially targeted private-pay patients in Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Under the exclusive Australian agreement, Healius provides specimen collection, pathology distribution and commercial delivery across approximately 1,900 patient collection centres. Proteomics International retains responsibility for laboratory testing, clinical reporting, scientific support, and quality and regulatory compliance. Promarker D was priced at A$495 per test and Promarker Eso at A$997, although the company said reimbursement and future market access outcomes remain uncertain.

Promarker Endo Advances Towards Launch

The third product, Promarker Endo, is now closer to the clinic after Proteomics completed model refinement and independent validation using a University of Oxford cohort. The test is intended to provide additional information in the assessment of suspected endometriosis, building on initial development work with samples from Melbourne’s Royal Women’s Hospital.

Validation sensitivity was 90% for stage IV disease, 84% for stages III-IV, 80% for stages II-IV and 68% across stages I-IV, with specificity of 71% across each grouping. Those disease-stage categories overlap, and the specificity calculation used the same 125 symptomatic controls who were surgically confirmed not to have endometriosis. The results therefore describe the reported validation cohort rather than establishing how the test will perform across broader clinical use.

Commercial availability is expected in FY27’s third quarter, subject to clinical deployment, assay refinement, clinician reporting and follow-up guidance, as well as quality, accreditation and regulatory requirements. The programme also gained further intellectual-property protection during the quarter, including a second Japanese patent, while Australian PromarkerEndo patent complemented granted US and Japanese protections.

Tax Receipt Extends A Tight Funding Position

Proteomics finished September with A$1.831 million in cash and used A$1.605 million in operating activities during the quarter. The largest operating outflows were A$700,000 for research and development, A$574,000 for staff costs, A$366,000 for administration and corporate costs, and A$277,000 across manufacturing, operating, advertising and marketing expenses.

On the quarter-end balance, the Appendix 4C calculated approximately 1.1 quarters of funding. A subsequent A$2 million FY26 Research and Development Tax Incentive receipt lifted the pro forma cash position to about A$3.8 million and the company’s calculation of available funding to roughly 2.4 quarters. Proteomics said it continues to assess capital and funding alternatives, while also targeting a US distributor appointment in the second half of FY27.

Bottom Line?

The national rollout creates the first meaningful test of commercial demand, but revenue, reimbursement and cash funding remain the critical variables before the portfolio can support its next stage.

Questions in the middle?

  • How quickly will Healius-generated test volumes translate into recurring revenue at the stated private-pay prices?
  • Can Promarker Endo complete its clinical, quality, accreditation and regulatory steps in time for FY27 third-quarter availability?
  • Will the A$3.8 million pro forma cash position be sufficient while Proteomics pursues US distribution and reimbursement evidence?
