Wide Open Agriculture has extended Univar Solutions China’s exclusive distribution rights for its lupin protein products through 2028, preserving a route into the mainland Chinese market. But the agreement is not a purchase order: revenue depends first on WOA restoring commercial supply through contract manufacturing.

Wide Open Agriculture has completed a study for a proposed 10,000-tonne-per-year lupin protein facility with indicative annual revenue of A$240 million to A$295 million. The project remains unfunded, unapproved and years from production, leaving contract manufacturing as the immediate test of the company’s strategy.

Wide Open Agriculture has signed three additional non-binding framework agreements with prospective contract manufacturers in Vietnam, India and Indonesia, bringing its shortlist to four. The agreements protect WOA’s lupin intellectual property while technical and commercial feasibility work begins, but stop well short of securing production or revenue.

Wide Open Agriculture has appointed Craig Swan as its new CEO, signaling a strategic push to commercialise its lupin protein technology and expand its footprint in Asia.
