Small caps drove the week, with battery, resources and education names posting the biggest gains. Deal news, funding rounds and fresh drilling plans kept traders busy, while a few discounted raisings hit hard.

Small-cap materials stocks swung hard as buyers chased project funding, processing breakthroughs and new drill results. The biggest moves came from energy infrastructure, greenfields deals and uranium, while gold and copper stories kept the sector busy.

PLS Group has greenlit a substantial pre-FID spend to keep its P2000 lithium expansion on track, aiming for a final investment decision by late 2026 and first ore by mid-2029.

Speculative resources names drove the biggest moves this week, with Patriot Resources, Brazilian Critical Minerals and Rent.com.au leading the gainers. At the other end, Qoria, SQX Resources and 4DMedical fell hard as capital raisings, weak follow-through and post-gap selling hit sentiment.

Silver, rare earths and select critical minerals led this week’s winners, while lithium names and several larger producers slipped despite busy news flow. Big resource upgrades, fresh funding and cleaner processing routes drew buyers, but many early gaps failed to hold.

PLS Group delivered a record 232.4kt spodumene concentrate production in March 2026, lifted revenue 52% to A$567 million on soaring lithium prices, and strengthened its balance sheet with a US$600 million senior notes issuance.

PLS Group has upsized its senior notes offering to US$600 million at 6.875%, using proceeds to refinance A$375 million of debt and halve its revolving credit facility.

PLS Group has locked in a two-year offtake agreement with Canmax Technologies for 150,000 tonnes per annum of spodumene concentrate, backed by a $100 million interest-free prepayment and a price floor to protect against market dips.

Speculative money piled into new discoveries and tight-supply metals, while a handful of small caps were sold hard on thin liquidity. The week’s biggest moves came from PGMs and tungsten on the way up, and micro-cap gas on the way down.
