Latest Scoping Study News

QEM Limited (ASX:QEM) has suspended non-essential work at its Julia Creek vanadium project after metallurgical results undermined the 2024 Scoping Study. The loss-making explorer is now relying on newly acquired Idaho projects, fresh capital and further exploration to justify its next chapter.

Vital Metals reported a A$16.63 million FY2026 loss after impairing its North T mine asset by A$12.73 million, while its auditor highlighted material uncertainty over the company’s ability to continue as a going concern. The balance sheet was strengthened by A$12.47 million in placements, but Tardiff’s encouraging drilling results must now translate into a larger resource and a credible pre-feasibility study.

Magnetite Mines is seeking up to A$1.5 million through a discounted share purchase plan and potential top-up placement to advance the Razorback green iron project. The raise offers free options, but also highlights the company’s continuing reliance on external funding and future strategic partners.

Greenwing Resources has warned of material uncertainty over its ability to continue as a going concern after reporting a $3.90 million loss for FY2026. The result was hit by a $2.23 million non-cash impairment at its dormant Graphmada graphite mine, while cash remains below near-term project commitments.

Sovereign Metals has expanded Kasiya into a potential rutile, graphite and heavy rare earths project, with a rare earths study adding an estimated US$722 million of pre-tax NPV8. The opportunity comes with a sharper execution challenge: Rio Tinto will not become operator, while Sovereign still needs a mining licence, binding offtakes and substantial funding.

Cobalt Blue has cleared important technical and regulatory hurdles at its Kwinana refinery, but the pre-revenue developer says further funding is needed and auditors flagged material uncertainty over its ability to continue as a going concern. The company reported an A$8.797 million loss for FY2026 despite ending the year with A$4.265 million in cash.

Nimy Resources has paired a maiden gallium resource and encouraging metallurgical recoveries with a sharp warning about funding pressure and an unresolved Lind legal dispute. The explorer ended FY2026 with $3.92 million in cash, but a $4.76 million Lind liability and an auditor-flagged going-concern uncertainty remain central risks.

Stavely Minerals has outlined a potentially valuable 13-year copper-gold-silver project, but its latest annual report makes clear that funding remains the immediate constraint. The company ended June with A$3.1 million in cash and an auditor-flagged material uncertainty over its ability to continue as a going concern.

Prospect Resources has taken its flagship Mumbezhi Copper Project to 208.1 million tonnes, while lifting ownership to 90% and securing A$45 million for the next phase of work. The project remains pre-production, leaving the upcoming Scoping Study and further drilling to convert geological scale into an economic case.

Legacy Minerals enters FY2027 with a larger Mt Carrington resource, a positive preliminary development study and fresh drilling underway, but the proposed mine still requires substantial funding. The ASX-listed explorer reported a A$1.85 million FY2026 loss and held A$6.07 million in cash at year-end.

ACDC Metals has joined a U.S.-backed defence consortium, giving its Goschen Central rare earths project a route into government solicitations, research partnerships and potential offtake discussions. The membership is strategically significant, but it is not a funding award or contract.

Charger Metals has restarted diamond drilling and added an RC rig to a 10,000m campaign at its Lake Johnston lithium project in Western Australia. The programme targets extensions and infill at the 10.6Mt Medcalf resource while testing whether the conceptual Medcalf West target can be converted into a mineral resource.
