Ocean Sciences has committed A$100,000 to a 12-month research program testing whether Sargassum-derived alginate can recover gold, silver and potentially rare earth elements from retired data centre hardware. The project gives the seaweed company a new industrial angle, but remains firmly at the laboratory stage.
