Joyce Emerges as Another High-Grade Niobium Target for Encounter
Encounter Resources has identified a shallow, high-grade niobium zone at Joyce, 6 kilometres east of its Green deposit, with drilling ending in mineralisation. Assays from surrounding holes are due in October and will determine whether the zone has meaningful lateral continuity.

Encounter Resources Limited (ASX:ENR) has found high-grade niobium at Joyce, where two aircore holes ended in mineralisation only 6 kilometres east of the company’s Green deposit. The standout result was 4 metres at 2.4% Nb₂O₅ from 40 metres to the end of hole in EAL1692, while EAL1693 returned 6 metres at 1.3% Nb₂O₅ from 88 metres to the end of hole.
Joyce Drilling Delivers High-Grade Intersections
A third hole added further support, returning 2 metres at 1.6% Nb₂O₅ from 34 metres and 2 metres at 1.3% from 86 metres within a broader 10-metre interval grading 0.6% Nb₂O₅ from 86 metres to the end of hole. The reported results are downhole lengths; Encounter said the true thickness and orientation of the mineralisation are not yet known.
The company’s 2026 drilling has so far confirmed what it describes as a continuous high-grade zone. That interpretation remains provisional: assays from holes drilled up to 200 metres on either side of the reported intersections are still pending, and those results are intended to test the zone’s lateral continuity and guide deeper drilling. Joyce was first identified through niobium and rare earth element anomalism in 2024, followed by a 2025 result of 9 metres at 2.2% Nb₂O₅ from 120 metres to the end of hole.
Aileron Resource Growth Strategy Broadens
Joyce gives Encounter another exploration front alongside its existing Green, Crean and Emily niobium deposits. The company’s Aileron inferred resource stands at 120 million tonnes grading 0.77% Nb₂O₅, including a 26-million-tonne high-grade component grading 1.7% Nb₂O₅. Joyce is not part of that resource, and the latest intersections do not yet establish a mineral resource estimate.
Three rigs are operating across Aileron, with further Joyce aircore results expected in October. The programme also includes a first diamond hole at Emily to test the depth extent of high-grade niobium, infill and extensional drilling at Green, regional aircore drilling and pre-development work covering geotechnical and hydrogeological studies, metallurgy, environmental surveys and project studies.
Pending Assays Hold the Next Read-Through
For Encounter, the attraction of Joyce is its shallow position and proximity to Green, but the next step is less glamorous and more important than the headline grades: establishing continuity, geometry and scale. Until those assays arrive and deeper drilling tests the mineralisation, Joyce remains an encouraging exploration target rather than an addition to Aileron’s defined resource base.
