Three MaxiFlox contracts add $8 million to SciDev’s order book
SciDev Ltd (ASX:SDV) has secured three separate MaxiFlox® chemistry supply contracts worth approximately $8 million in committed value, giving the water-treatment company a sizeable new base of work across mining, utilities and infrastructure. The initial contract terms range from roughly one to three years, with about $5 million of revenue expected to be recognised in FY27.
The awards span a coal mining operation in the Hunter Valley, a major municipal water and wastewater provider, and the developer of a large national infrastructure project. SciDev has not disclosed the counterparties’ names, saying they requested confidentiality.
FY27 revenue uplift comes with extension risk
Of the expected FY27 revenue, approximately $3 million is described as incremental to FY26, with the remainder to be recognised over the balance of the contract terms. The agreements also contain extension options estimated at up to a further $4 million, taking the potential total value to approximately $12 million if all are exercised.
That upper figure is not committed: each option remains at the relevant customer’s discretion. The announcement also does not disclose margins, payment terms or the detailed economics of the individual contracts, leaving the eventual earnings contribution less clear than the headline revenue value.
Contract wins support recurring revenue strategy
SciDev said multi-year supply agreements support its aim of increasing recurring revenue as a proportion of total revenue. That ratio rose to 38% in FY26 from 30% in FY25, while the new awards bring the company’s chemistry contract wins during calendar 2026 to approximately $14 million when combined with the $6 million Newmont Boddington contract announced in June.
The timing is important because SciDev expects the Rum Jungle project to complete in the first half of FY27, after Rum Jungle delays had shifted project revenue into that financial year. The new chemistry contracts are intended to build the contracted base around that transition, though the filing does not quantify how much of any Rum Jungle-related revenue they would replace.
Competitive tenders test SciDev’s integrated offering
All three contracts were won through competitive tender. SciDev attributed the awards to the combination of MaxiFlox chemistry, OptiFlox® automated dose-control technology and on-site technical support, positioning the wins as a commercial example of the June strategy reset built around integrated water solutions.
Chief executive Todd Scott said the company tailored its chemistry and optimisation solutions to site conditions, with the aim of improving performance while reducing treatment costs. The next test is more prosaic: whether the contracts commence as expected, convert into the forecast FY27 revenue and produce attractive margins once SciDev reports the underlying financial results.
Bottom Line?
The contracts improve FY27 revenue visibility, but their real value will depend on delivery, margins and whether discretionary extensions convert into recurring work.
Questions in the middle?
- How much margin will the three contracts contribute once their chemistry and service costs are recorded?
- Will the approximately $3 million FY27 revenue uplift be recognised evenly or concentrated around particular contract commencements?
- How many of the up to $4 million in extension options will customers ultimately exercise?
