49 Metals finds scale and structure at Gold Mountain

49 Metals has completed assays from all 22 holes in its maiden Gold Mountain RC program, with results pointing to a broad gold system and multiple higher-grade structures at the Adit Zone. A further 3,500 metres of drilling is now underway, while the company held $5.536 million in cash at quarter end.

  • 170.7m at 0.9g/t gold in DRC#22, the project’s thickest reported intersection
  • 27.4m at 8.3g/t gold in DRC#9 confirmed a high-grade feeder corridor
  • Gold and/or silver mineralisation reported in all 22 maiden RC holes
  • Approximately 3,500m of follow-up drilling underway across 10 to 11 holes
  • $5.536m cash at 30 September, with $1.213m used in operating activities during the quarter

Gold Mountain results point to a broader mineralised system

49 Metals Limited (ASX:49M) has finished the assay run from its maiden Gold Mountain drilling program with gold and/or silver mineralisation reported in all 22 holes, giving the Nevada project a more substantial geological picture than the initial discovery alone suggested.

The standout result was DRC#22, which returned 170.7 metres at 0.9g/t gold from 121.9 metres, including 50.3 metres at 1.2g/t. It is the thickest gold intersection reported at Gold Mountain. The company says the result supports an interpretation of a broad mineralised envelope around several higher-grade, structurally controlled zones.

The results build on the maiden Gold Mountain drilling, which had already returned mineralisation in all 22 holes and highlighted both a 27.4-metre high-grade interval and the 170.7-metre intersection.

High-grade feeder corridor remains the key target

Within the broader system, 49 Metals is focusing on a higher-grade feeder corridor interpreted to run through the Adit Zone. DRC#9 returned 27.4 metres at 8.3g/t gold from 221 metres, including 9.1 metres at 21.9g/t, while DRC#19 returned 67.1 metres at 1.7g/t, including 3 metres at 20.0g/t.

DRC#16 added a separate 64-metre interval at 1.0g/t from 152.4 metres, as well as a deeper 15.2-metre zone at 2.4g/t. The company interprets the higher-grade intervals in DRC#9 and DRC#16 as part of the same feeder structure, although the reported exploration results do not establish a mineral resource, economic viability or recoverable reserves.

Shallow mineralisation in DRC#21 and DRC#18, together with results from the Brougher and Sealy Ridge areas, also suggests the wider Gold Mountain hydrothermal system contains targets beyond the initial Adit Zone discovery. The company says those areas require further interpretation before their significance can be determined.

Follow-up drilling moves from plan to execution

The company has fast-tracked approximately 3,500 metres of RC drilling across 10 to 11 holes. The program is designed to extend the Adit Zone, infill the existing pattern and improve the geological understanding of the higher-grade structures and surrounding mineralised envelope. Drilling is expected to finish in the first half of November, with assays expected progressively and initial results subject to laboratory turnaround times.

That campaign was already underway in early October, when 49 Metals reported the 3,500m follow-up drilling had started and said initial assays could arrive roughly four to six weeks after drilling commenced. The next results should therefore test whether the reported widths and feeder structures show continuity between existing holes.

Cash funds the next phase but leaves exploration as the priority

49 Metals reported cash reserves of approximately $5.5 million at 30 September. Its Appendix 5B showed $5.536 million in cash and cash equivalents at quarter end, after $1.213 million of net operating cash outflows during the three months, including $910,000 on exploration and evaluation.

The company recorded $0.9 million of exploration and evaluation expenditure for the quarter and said it had no mining production or development activity. Sinter and Buffalo Canyon saw no material fieldwork, with planning instead focused on future maiden exploration programs, leaving Gold Mountain as the clear operational centre of gravity for the December quarter.

Bottom Line?

The immediate test is no longer whether Gold Mountain contains mineralisation, but whether the next 3,500 metres can demonstrate enough continuity and geometry to support a coherent resource model before cash becomes the limiting variable.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will follow-up drilling confirm continuity between the higher-grade feeder intersections at the Adit Zone?
  • How will the broad lower-grade zones and deeper oxidation profile affect future metallurgical and economic work?
  • Can the current cash balance fund the next Gold Mountain campaign while also advancing Sinter and Buffalo Canyon?
