Echelon Resources has completed the Palm Valley 14 appraisal well as a gas producer after a flow test recorded approximately 3 million standard cubic feet per day with no water or oil. First gas is expected before the end of October, with the well forecast to deliver 3-4 terajoules a day once tied in.

Central Petroleum will put PV14 into production despite an initial 3.2 TJ/d flow test that fell below its target and recent Palm Valley wells. Water seen during vacuum flow leaves the well’s sustainable output uncertain as attention shifts to PV15.

Buru Energy has formally referred its 100%-owned Rafael Conventional Gas Project to Western Australia’s environmental regulator, with a decision on whether the project requires assessment expected by late 2026. The referral keeps the company’s targets of a final investment decision in the second half of 2027 and first gas in early 2029 in view, subject to approvals.

Xstate Resources has secured preferred tenderer status for a 305 square kilometre block in Queensland’s Taroom Trough, with the company set to initially operate a four-party joint venture. The prospective acreage offers exposure to basin-centred gas, associated liquids and light crude, but the licence remains subject to government processes.
